Activities program for July 2000

The Organization of Parents and Relatives of Undeclared Prisoners and Missing Persons is organizing a series of demonstrations, between July 17th and 20th, 2000 (July 20th, 1974 was the starting day of the Turkish invasion in Cyprus).

Arrival of a group of of relatives of missing persons from Greece.

Tuesday, July 18 2000 All day
Opening of a three-day demonstration, organized by our Organization and the Movement of Displaced Cypriot Women.
"RESTORATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN CYPRUS - RETURN OF ALL REFUGEES TO THEIR HOMES - DISCOVERY OF THE FATE OF THE MISSING PERSONS - IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 3RD VIENNA AGREEMENT FOR THE ENCLAVED".

Wednesday, July 19 2000 09:00
Beginning of a 3-day hunger strike (at Eleftheria Square, Nicosia).
20:00
Human chain at Eleftheria Square and the adjoining roads.
21:00
Torches light up at the human chain.
21:30
Demonstration at Eleftheria Square. The mayors of all towns of the island will sign a common declaration.
22:30
Prayer for the return of the refugees to their homes and the discovery of the Missing Persons at the Holly Church of Faneromeni.

Thursday, July 20 2000 All day
Handling of resolutions to the Embassies of the five permanent members of the Security Council by representatives of the Organization.
Handling of resolutions to international organizations (UN, Amnesty International, European Council, etc.).

΄Εναρξη τριήμερης εκδήλωσης που η Οργάνωση συνδιοργανώνει με την Κίνηση Εκτοπισμένων Γυναικών Κύπρου:
"ΑΠΟΚΑΤΑΣΤΑΣΗ ΑΝΘΡΩΠΙΝΩΝ ΔΙΚΑΙΩΜΑΤΩΝ ΣΤΗΝ ΚΥΠΡΟ - ΕΠΙΣΤΡΟΦΗ ΤΩΝ ΠΡΟΣΦΥΓΩΝ - ΔΙΑΚΡΙΒΩΣΗ ΤΗΣ ΤΥΧΗΣ ΤΩΝ ΑΓΝΟΟΥΜΕΝΩΝ - ΕΦΑΡΜΟΓΗ ΤΗΣ Γ΄ ΒΙΕΝΝΗΣ ΓΙΑ ΤΟΥΣ ΕΓΚΛΩΒΙΣΜΕΝΟΥΣ".

Συγκέντρωση και σχηματισμός ανθρώπινης αλυσίδας στους δρόμους που οδηγούν στην Πλατεία Ελευθερίας.
21:00
Ανάβουν οι δάδες σ' όλη την αλυσίδα.
21:30
Συγκέντρωση στην Πλατεία Ελευθερίας. Οι Δήμαρχοι όλων των πόλεων του νησιού θα υπογράψουν κοινή Διακήρυξη.
22:30
Δέηση υπερ Επιστροφής των Προσφύγων και Διακρίβωσης της τύχης των Αγνοουμένων στον Ι. Ναό Φανερωμένης.

Πέμπτη, 20 Ιουλίου 2000 Ολοήμερη
Επίδοση υπομνημάτων στις Πρεσβείες των πέντε Μονίμων Μελών του Συμβουλίου Ασφαλείας από αντιπροσωπεία της Επιτροπής.
Αποστολή υπομνημάτων σε Διεθνείς Οργανισμούς (ΟΗΕ, Διεθνή Αμνηστεία, Συμβούλιο Ευρώπης κλπ.) για το θέμα των Αγνοουμένων.
